General:
Courmandine is a salad variety with a long shape, a nice
light yellow skin colour with yellow flesh colour. The
medium sized tubers have shallow eyes. The tuber number
is good and the size uniform. The cooking type is firm
and the dry matter content is moderate. Courmandine is
suitable for cultivation as a salad potato. Gourmandine
is not suitable as a winter crop because of its long
dormancy.
Maturity: Main Crop
Cultivation:
Pre-sprouting or a temperature shock is necessary
because of its slow start. Planning directly from the
cold store or removing the sprouts more than once has a
negative effect on the yield. The plant distance at a
tuber size of 30/50 is about about 27cm (50 000
plants/ha). Use of Sencor can give some reaction to the
leaves and often some yield reduction. The early
development is slow. Gourmandine is not very susceptible
to bruising and black spot. Because of the
susceptibility to Alternanria and early treatment for
early blight is advisable.
Fertilisation:
The recommendation for nitrogen is standard. Extra
Potassium (K2O) is not necessary. It is recommended to
have the nitrogen directly available. (NO3)
Storage:
Courmandine has a very good dormancy and it
suitable for long time storage (at about 5
degrees)
Resistance:
Courmandine is rather susceptible to Erwinia and
X-virus and moderately susceptible to Common
Scab, Spraing, Early and Late blight and Tuber
blight. The resistance to YNTN is good.
Courmandine is resistant to A-virus and Wart
